FAQ

Each repair service is different, therefore the cost of each service will vary. We will need to take a look at each piece of jewelry before we can determine the price. The pricing indicators include:

  • The service provided (length and difficulty)
  • The type of metal (silver, 14/18 karat white, yellow, or rose gold, or platinum)
  • How thick the metal is (mm)
  • How many stones are on the piece of jewelry
  • And how much work needs to be done
We recommend and prefer our customers to come in every 6 months so we can clean and check their jewelry to ensure its integrity.

We provide simple watch repairs as a service to our customers, however we are not watchmakers. Simple repairs include:

  • Simple battery replacements
  • Removing links

(note: we do not operate on high-end designer watches including but not limited to: Rolex, Cartier, Omega, etc)

Vardy’s does formal appraisals for insurance purposes. Every piece of jewelry bought at Vardy’s can include a free appraisal if requested. For jewelry not purchased at Vardy’s, the appraisal fee is $200 per piece. That fee includes a full inspection, cleaning, and polishing, as well as a lifetime of free appraisal updates for that piece when insurance needs it every 2-5 years.

A general evaluation can also be done for your jewelry. This is NOT a formal appraisal for insurance purchases. This is if you would like an estimated value for your piece along with what your piece entails (i.e. type of metal, type of stones, etc.) We charge for general evaluations based on time. (for example, if you have a lot of jewelry that needs evaluating or very complex pieces, it will take more time)

Vardy’s doesn’t typically buy jewelry, however sometimes purchases gold, silver, or platinum from existing clients for meltdown value.

Yes! Absolutely. We love keeping the sentimental value of a piece, but making it into something that you would wear on a regular basis. Come on into the store with some of your favorite ideas!
There are certain repair jobs that can be done the same day that you bring it in, however not all of them can be. The repair jobs that can be done the same day will require an expedited fee for the work of our jewelers.
We can most likely determine whether a piece is real or fake. We may be able to give an approximate value of the piece, however an official or formal value will not be determined without a formal appraisal.
